Coconut Silver–Gold Project

Coconut is an early-stage exploration property prospective for epithermal style gold-silver mineralization located immediately east of Kooteany Resources’ Fox Property.

Covering 5,786 hectares in 6 mineral claims, the area is underlain predominantly by andesitic volcanic rocks and andesitic-felsic volcanic rocks of the Cretaceous aged Kasalka group and Eocene age Ootsa Lake group respectively.  Minor amounts of sedimentary rocks are also recognized. An oval shaped granitic intrusive measuring 4 km x 2.5 km is located on the western flank of the property.

Locally, several types of feldspar porphyry dykes are noted as well as larger bodies of quartz feldspar porphyry.  Newly identified granite outcrops in the northern portion of the claims are similar in appearance to the intrusive located west of the claim group. North-east trending zones of brecciation and faulting cut through the claims and are thought to be related to mineralization.

Exploration activities to date include reconnaissance prospecting/mapping and rock chip sampling. A total of 285 rock chip samples have been collected at Coconut with 20% of those samples returning over 100 gpt silver. A best result of 6,273 gpt silver and 33.4 gpt gold was returned from 2019 rock chip sample TK19-90.

Kootenay Resource intends to extend geological mapping and prospecting at Coconut, with the intention of defining drilling targets for follow up.
